Choosing the color for your four wall space is an important element to consider when decorating a room. In general, little thought is given to the fifth wall, your ceiling. Often painted white or with a touch of neutral color, it adds little to the decor. But a bold blanket can make a cool statement! We have already shared some original ceiling designs, and today I want to dive into this topic and show you some real tutorials that will allow you to create an adorable and dreamy ceiling to complete your room decor.

Not only juicy colors, but stencils are an inexpensive way to add visual interest to this surface. Turn your generic blanket into an inspirational focal point with a few items from the craft store. First, take a look at your room, its colors and patterns, and decide on the best color for your ceiling and the pattern you want to liven up. When you have found a satisfactory stencil, buy it; if not, make your own using special programs - feel creative!

When the stencil is ready, remove the furniture from the areas where you plan to use the stencil. Cover the parts and your floor with tarpaulin or old sheets to protect them from paint splatter and spills. Position a sturdy stepladder under the ceiling where you want to start stenciling.
Prepare your ceiling for stenciling. If it's not freshly painted, clean the surface with a soft cloth soaked in a solution of mild detergent and water. Rinse off any remaining soap residue with a clean cloth and fresh water.
Collect painting supplies so that they are easily accessible while you work: painter's tape, a spirit level, your stencil, a roller, the paint of your choice. Pour the acrylic craft paint into a single paint pan.

Position the template on the ceiling that you want to stencil on. A good idea is to start from the corner to make it more convenient. Line up a carpenter's level with the edge of the stencil to make sure your stencil is straight. Secure the corners of the stencil with painter's tape. You can use spray glue and just spray the back of the stencil, let it sit for a minute, and then stick it to the ceiling as well.
Dip the roller in your paint, then blot the end of the brush onto newspaper to remove any excess paint. The brush should be almost dry to avoid paint dripping. Apply paint up and down the template with a brush. The color will look faded. Keep dabbing until you are happy with the intensity. Repeat this process until you have completed the template's pattern.

Remove the painter's tape and lift the template off the finished section. Move it to the next area you want to stencil. Repeat the stencil step until you are happy with your decorated ceiling.
