diy ikea kallax hacks

IKEA Kallax, formerly Expedit, is a simple and cool shelf that needs to be adapted to the wall. There are so many ways to hack it and use it as you want in your home!

DIY IKEA Kallax benches

Kallax can easily be converted into a bench with storage space. This is a great solution for any modern home where we often lack storage space. You will need a Kallax or Expedit piece, 2 sets of IKEA Capita legs, screw them in at each end and in the middle of the bench, 6 legs total. You’ll need to cut the foam to fit the bench. Just put the piece of foam on the bench, mark the edges with a sharpie marker, then use a kitchen knife or whatever you need to cut the foam. The only cut we had to make was to cut the foam piece in half the length. It was pretty much the right size. So we have two one-piece foam benches. Then simply stretch the quilting floss over the edges of the foam and MDF board and staple them with a stapler! After you’ve basted the quilting, repeat the step, but this time use fabric. Pull the fabric firmly over the edge of the foam / board and baste it in place. Just take some 3 inch screws and screw them into the MDF board from below the bench.

DIY Kallax / Expedit sideboards, bedside tables and other storage items

Since Kallax is geared towards storage, there is no better use for it! So how can you make a Kallax storage unit? Prepare 1/4 “sheet of plywood, 20-30 1” nails, heavy duty sheets, furniture feet, a hammer, and a drill press. Measure the size of your bookcase and cut a piece that is about 1/8 – 1/4 inch smaller on all sides from the 4 x 8 foot sheet of plywood. Paint one side of the plywood backing with the white paint or an accent color. If desired, paint or stain the furniture feet according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Let dry. Attach the plywood backing. Place the Expedit / Kallax face down on the floor. Place the varnished plywood back face down on the back of the bookcase, making sure it is centered. Nail the back to the bookcase every few inches around the perimeter until it is fully secured. Screw the top panels with the bookcase down to the four corners of the bottom of the bookcase. Once all of the top panels are secured, screw in the furniture feet by hand.

Agates and geodes became a hit last year, and this year they are heralded as one of the hottest trends. We want to inspire you to incorporate them into your kitchen decor and share these amazing ideas that will fit any pocket.

Kitchen decor

Make your space very nervous with agate and geode countertops - they are really impressive! It's a great idea for those tired of the usual marble counters and can be lit underneath for a bolder accent. Another idea is to opt for a backsplash in the agate kitchen. Just don't make it too big as too much agate can look tasteless. All you need is a trendy accent.

Serving planks, cutting boards, coasters and coasters made from geode and agate only changes the entire space, makes your food luxurious and chic, and takes your party to a new level. Add a metallic edge and they'll hit even harder. You can also incorporate other agate and geode elements like pendant lights, works of art and other things. Give your kitchen a sophisticated touch with these beautiful accessories!
