It's summer and everyone is in the mood for delicious and refreshing popsicles! Do you have a few sticks left? Don't throw them away, let's reuse them and create some fun things.
Popsicles can be a great source of crafting for kids. Popsicle stick puzzles, sculptures, musical instruments, ninja turtles, planes and houses, and many other toys can be made from it. To create a popsicle puzzle, glue the sticks together by placing a long strip of tape on top of it, making sure the sticks stay close together. Then turn the sticks that are glued together so that the tape is on the bottom. All you have to do is draw a sketch of the puzzle on the other side. Then use a thin brush and acrylic paint and gradually color the sketch. Add additional colors to make the puzzle even more attractive and colorful. Once the paint has dried, carefully peel the tape off the back and separate the pins.
The 4th July is coming, so why not use popsicles to make a flag? Paint popsicles red and white. Apply two coats on the front and one on the back. Let the paint dry completely before the next step. Use painter's tape to create a rectangle for the blue section of the flag. Apply 1-2 coats of blue paint. Glue popsicle onto a piece of cardboard. Let the glue dry before the next step. Add rhinestone stars to your flag. Tape the tape around a large popsicle. Use a hot glue gun to cover the front and sides of the stick. Be very careful with this step to avoid burns from hot glue. Then glue the stick to the back of the flag.
Home accessories can also be made from or decorated with popsicles, such as a flower pot. First measure the height of the flower pot and then cut the craft sticks to that dimension. Use the leftover pieces of the craft stick to create a second row around the bottom of the pot. Use a strong, thick craft glue to hold the craft sticks in place. If you're using a thin white glue, curse this project up and down as the sticks just slide around. You can also use hot glue. Pop the plant back into the pot and it's done!
